Dear Reader,

I am late in writing, but I see now that my lack of punctuality was for a purpose. I struggled with knowing what to write about. I have many ideas, but none of them felt like the right one to correctly allocate what this blog deserves. I prefer not to write something unless I feel it is inspired, but sometimes the ones that don't seem deserving are the ones that cause the greatest impact.

For this week's blog, it will sound harsh at times, but know I write because I love each of my readers. I hope to be words of encouragement, challenge, and hope. With that comes also words of correction, confrontation, and conviction. Always know that what I say, I have already said to myself. I am just publicly writing what I thought inside. So for today, know I am not correcting or picking on just one individual. I am talking about the full body of Messiah and the world.

"For it is time for judgement to begun with the family of Yahweh; and if it begins with us, what willl the outcome be for those who disobey the Gospel of Yahweh?" 1 Peter 4:17

We are so convinced we are right. We believe we have arrived at peak righteousness and spirituality. We are so confident that we could do no wrong or that we are so superior that we could never fall. Or we are so afraid to fail and fall into sin that we bubble wrap our lives and suffocate any joy found in the gift of Salvation. SIN, a word the whole world knows but does not understand. The whole world knows what sin is; there are rules, and rules are made for breaking. Right? Is this not the theme of the world? Is this not the attitude of most cheaters in the movies we feed ourselves and our children? Then we wonder why they struggle with obedience and authority, because their heroes are ones who go against the system of the world and topple entire empires by taking a stand.

It is in us to be rebellious, buck off authority, and be selfish. We are born with a nature built on me, myself, and I. We have a sin nature, one bent on doing whatever we want. With it, we also have this built-in drive to do something great. Thus, children from a young age believe they can be anything and do anything. The sky has no limit. We dream of being doctors, astronauts, inventors, super heroes who save people and fight evil.

We are at war within ourselves. One side of us is dark, untamed, wild, and unruly. And yet there is a deep desire in us to want to do something good. The atheist, the Muslim, the Hindu, or whatever you call yourself. We were not created differently; we were convinced by our own logic and surroundings to think differently. We all come into this world and leave it the same. We all have the same demands in life: eat, sleep, use the toilet, start a family, and have money.. This is the bare minimum, but this is basic human nature. Look in history; what are the basic building blocks of it? Each goes in order, and falls into the next.

  1. Repopulate so that the strong can....

  2. Dominate over the region and have.....

  3. Influence over many peoples of all ages and strengths, so that the survival of your tribe is secure with resources such as........

  4. food

  5. water

  6. money

  7. shelter

This is the reason for wars, the rise of nations, countries, and great militaries. This is what is built into us humans. This is the structure of all of history. This blueprint has seen many empires rise and fall. So it is not sufficient enough to last for very long. Is this a bad plan? No, because it was Yah given. He built this plan into the very fabric of history. But it is missing just one thing.

"What causes conflicts and quarrels among you? Dont they comes from the passions at war within you?" James 4:1

We are at constant war because we have these two sides of us; many people view it as the devil and angel on their shoulders, or the two wolves that are always at war. Who wins? The one you feed. But to understand it simply, we have a sin nature and a nature that is created in the image of our beautiful Savior and Creator. These are the passions raging inside. Paul knew this well and said...

“So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of Yahweh, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.  Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to Yahweh through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of Yahweh with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.” Romans 7:21-25

SIN, a three-letter word that can separate the greatest things we hold for thousands of miles. This word simply means LAWLESSNESS. Without law. That is not too hard to understand. Anyone who drives on the road can understand, there is a speed limit and laws of the road. Break them, and you will be seeing some lights in the rearview mirror. If sin were not real, we wouldn't have prisons. If sin weren't real, we wouldn't have a law system or a natural instinct to make laws and rules.

It couldn’t be better said then when Paul also wrote….

“What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead. I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me.  For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.” Romans 7:7-14

TRUE COURAGE IS LOOKING AT BOTH OUR NATURES THAT WAR INSIDE OF US, LIKE TWO FORCES ABOUT TO MEET ON A BATTLEFIELD, AND CHOOSING TO FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH, NO MATTER THE COST. WE GET TO DECIDE. WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE NATURE OF OUR SAVIOR WHEN WE GAVE HIM OUR LIFE. WHICH SIDE WILL YOU CHOOSE?

This war is going on every second of every day of every year. The enemy knows that if he could get you to stay in sin, you will turn your back on the free gift of your salvation. Remember, Yahweh is too holy to be near sin. So if we stay in our sin nature and do not overcome it by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony, you are choosing the comfort and pleasure of five minutes for an eternity of separation and torment. It’s not that you lose your salvation like it’s something that can be lost. It’s our own deliberate, hardheaded, and stiff-necked decision to put it in the background. We can add so much of our own making that when you look back, you have walked out on your salvation so long ago. Remember YOU ARE NOT A DOG TO RETURN TO THE VOMIT!

“For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Yeshua Messiah, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.” 2 Peter 2:20-22

BELOVED READER, May this cause a shaking in you and me. May we run from the smell of sin, the sight of sin, the sound of sin, the sensation of sin, and the taste of it. We should be so infatuated with the love of our First Love that anything else is a bad taste and undesirable. We should know what is sin and be appalled by it. But we should never fear it, or make an idol of focusing on it. Do you want to know how not to sin? FIND YOUR CONTENTMENT IN YESHUA. The Lover of your soul, The Prince of Peace, The Anchor of your life, The Restoration, And The Truth! If we are abiding in Him, we will see sin coming from afar and can overcome it so much easier.

My last encouragement is to partner with your new nature, the new creation in Yeshua, and that human drive and blueprint that Yahweh put inside you to...

  1. Repopulate

  2. Dominate

  3. Influence

Use it for the Kingdom of Heaven! Not to build a kingdom here; that is why this never lasted. It would rise as an empire and then fall with it. But if you use that and surrender all of yourself, both natures, to Yahweh, He can use it, and you become the kings and queens full of influence, dominion, and a strong, powerful line of descendants that SHAKE THE WORLD!

Do not hang your head in condemnation and guilt, for there is none of that in Yeshua Messiah! He is the ONLY WAY to overcome sin and our fallen nature. Keep this verse in your mind, and if it is the only thing that you can remember, remember this….

“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” Proverbs 24:16

Be BOLD. Be COURAGEOUS. Be VALIANT. Be LOVED!!

Much Love

Elysa
