Daddy (part 2)

The void still remains, the chasm still wide. No nails or wood are in sight to build the bridge of reconciliation.

More moments and memories fall into oblivion. Sunup and sundown, waiting for you to come around. To see the little girl sitting on the ground.

Waiting.

Tick tock. Tick tock.

But time stops for no one.

They say time heals all things. What a lie we all buy. Time doesn’t heal; choice does. A choice made so long ago.

Happy is the one who doesn’t wait for an apology, a bouquet of flowers, or a hug. Sometimes, you have to be your own apology. You have to buy your own flowers, and you have to tell yourself that you are enough.

In life, you can’t wait until everything is right for life to be right.

Sometimes, the person who hurt us doesn’t even know how to make things right themselves. A text full of emojis doesn’t fill the very thing they emptied.

The mirror must hold such an empty reflection. What a hollow existence one must carry when all they try to do is make you ignore what they have done. In that, I feel sorry.

When one builds with Legos instead of the much-needed wood required to reach across the gaping distance between their heart and the one they broke.

Dear You,

Today, if you look back on your journey and see that you didn’t wait to forgive and heal, I am proud of you.

I want you to know that even if you look a little different than that little girl, that’s part of growing up. Your younger self would be proud of you for all that you have gone through and healed from.

That doesn’t mean the chasm now has a bridge or that everything is as it should be.

I just want you to know that your boundaries are the first step toward building those bridges.

Boundaries don’t feel good. Even though you’ve had to draw them and time has passed since then, if you haven’t yet seen the fruit of them, stay strong.

Because, honestly, those boundaries were for you more than they were for them. You loved yourself enough to do something about it.

And in doing so, you loved them.

Because sometimes, loving someone means distancing yourself in the hope that one day in the right way and at the right time, there could be an opportunity to be Daddy’s little girl again. If not in this lifetime, you have a Father in Heaven that has never left you or forgetten you. You are not an option to Him and He will be with you till the ever end. That is a promise, and He keeps His promises. Take courage oh heart and never be stopped. For you get one chance at this thing called life, and it’s out here for the taking. I will finish on this quote I heard from a movie “May the bridges I burn, be the light that lights my way.” Many times the path ahead looks like turning the other way around and letting all that holds you back burn to the ground. Pray for them, but let them go. From my heart to yours make the choice because that is what heals!

Much love

Yours truly Elysa
